Support Within Housing - Mental Health

Program Description

Ten-bed group home that provides affordable housing and daily (but not overnight) staff support for adults with serious mental illness. Residents must be compliant with medication and be in good enough physical health to climb stairs and participate in program activities and household maintenance. Staff provides practical assistance, assist with medication, and provide one-to-one and group support and skills teaching to assist residents in their recovery and in developing skills for independent living. Residents have individual bedrooms.

COVID-19 Response: Residential Services Open and continues to provide support to current clients. The program is not accepting new admissions at this time. The homes are at full capacity. New referrals are still being accepted.

Access Information

A written referral is required from a mental health service provider, as is receipt of other needed mental health services (e.g., case management, psychiatry, medications). Referrals are reviewed by the Program Director/Designate and the intake process generally involves one or more interviews, a tour of the group home, a meeting and a trial visit with current residents. Rent is geared to income. Key determinants of program eligibility are: sufficient physical health, and supervision and support needs can be accommodated with current staffing levels.
