Program Description

A 10-bed inpatient unit that provides comprehensive care to children and adolescents up to and including the age of 17 who are experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms. Unit functions include multidisciplinary assessment, initiation of treatment and discharge planning. Admission is on a planned and voluntary basis.

Access Information

Decisions regarding admission are made by Unit Psychiatrists. Referrals originate from physicians as well as transfers from other hospitals. Admission may be planned or on an emergency basis, either voluntary or involuntary. Inquiries from youth, parents, schools, and community organizations are welcome. Referral letter should be faxed to intake. In emergency situations, where there is significant risk of harm to self or others, patients should be brought to the Emergency Department.
