Eating disorders are serious conditions related to persistent eating behaviours that negatively impact your health, your emotions and your ability to function in important areas of life. The most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating disorders (CBT-E) is a psychological treatment designed for individuals with eating disorder psychopathology. Treatment is completed individually and focused to an individual's specific eating concerns.

Counselling and Treatment
Specialized Diagnostic Assessment measures the severity of the eating disorder diagnosis. It consists of a structured interview based on the DSM-V criteria for eating disorders, followed by the administration of psychometric tests and medical assessment with the Nurse Practitioner. The Specialized Diagnostic Assessment is administered before and after each treatment. The Specialized Diagnostic Assessment is the first step and required prior to admission to treatment.

Support Within Housing - Mental Health
The ED RTF provides 24-hour specialized programming in a home-like, community setting. Those residing at the ED RTF concurrently attend the Adult Eating Disorder Service Day Treatment Service (DTS) and receive medical and therapeutic support from the AEDS team.

Adults are offered treatment through our group program with some individual sessions. The group program is a mixture of educational and therapy groups and we have a support group for the partners, family members and close friends of people with eating disorders. All participants of the eating disorder program need to be medically monitored either by their general practitioner or if the individual does not have one, arrangements can be made to be seen by a general practitioner in our region. For clients under the age of 17 years, an individualized treatment plan is devised which usually includes: medical monitoring, nutritional counselling, individual and family therapy.
