Public Awareness - Mental Health

Program Description

This peer-run program's objective is to empower women with substance use issues by providing them with training in a host of topics related to street involvement, HIV/AIDS, and substance use. These peer outreach workers work with women who are living on the streets or working in the sex trade to provide them with information about sexual safety, harm reduction, and violence prevention and reporting. Peer trainers are paid, and the program provides them with a first step to employment.
