Program Description

The Managed Alcohol Program is a replacement therapy, using Harm Reduction Principles. Intake process includes an assessment piece that includes a physical provided by a physician, a nutrition assessment completed by a dietitian, a physical functional assessment completed by an Occupational Therapist, as well as an OCAN (Ontario common Assessment of Need) completed by the Recovery Support staff and a meeting with an first Nations elder to discuss individuals culture support if the client wishes to participate. Staff will complete an Inter-professional Plan of Coordinating Care for each client. Individual have their first drink at 8:00 am the pours occur every 90 minutes after that until 11:00 pm. Our daily programing is designed that we do two group activities each day one at 9:00am and the second group at 10:45 am. The afternoon, group sessions are recreational in nature and the afternoon also allows time for clients to attend auxiliary appointments (e.g., foot care, dental care, vision care, education support, etc.) We will be partnering with other agencies to offer wellness programming like bowling, yoga, traditional ceremonies, etc.

Referrals welcomed by all sources, call and speak to the Recovery Support Lead. This program is designed for those: who have had 10 years or more chronic alcohol use, homeless or at risk of homelessness and have related health issues.
