Program Description

A menu of treatment options is available to individuals who use or have used opioids, as well as family or significant others of those using opioids. The treatment options are comprised of medical services, such as: opioid replacement therapy, dosage stabilization, and weekly meetings with medical team. Also offered are counselling and alternative treatments, such as: individual counselling, group therapy, psychoeducation including overdose education and relapse prevention, individualized support, acupuncture, and mindfulness services. The new rapid response treatment approach uses best practices for opioid replacement therapy (suboxone or methadone) and medically supervised withdrawal. Individuals will be carefully monitored within a framework of biopsychosocial and spiritual components. A variety of models used in treatment in considering individuals' strengths and stages of change. Treatment models will address biopsychosocial and spiritual aspect of addiction, including cognitive behavioural approaches, attachment based-trauma informed approach, and a systemic model addressing contextual and other psychological issues related to addiction. Individual counselling and group counselling are used to attain and maintain treatment goals related to substance use and other life areas. Counsellors are available to offer telephone support throughout all stages.

Access Information

Referrals are accepted from professionals or self. To be eligible for the program, potential service recipients must meet one of the following criteria: currently using opioids or history of opioid use, interest in harm reduction for opioid use, interest in methadone or suboxone, presently taking methadone or suboxone and want to transfer to a holistic program, or presently taking methadone or suboxone and want help with tapering off. Individual and group support is also available for a family member of a person using opioids.
