Safe Health Site Timmins (SHST) is an Urgent Public Health Needs Site – also known as supervised-consumption site or overdose-prevention site. SHST is a controlled space where individuals can consume their own pre-obtained drugs under supervision of trained staff who can respond if a medical emergency (overdose) occurs. Individuals who use the service can access basic medical care, referrals to treatment services, withdrawal beds, and other health and social services.

The Mental Health Unit (MHU) is an acute care unit for adults who are in acute psychiatric distress. The health care team works with the patient and their families to provide short term assessments, consultations, treatment and stabilization and discharge planning.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit (CAMHU) is an acute care unit for youth who are in acute psychiatric distress. Working in collaboration with Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation, this unit provides in-patient treatment to adolescents at risk of harming themselves or others, or struggling with acute symptoms of mental illness.

The Community Treatment Order Program (CTO) offers coordination services for the Cochrane District and James and Hudson Bay Coasts. The CTO coordinator provides consultation with the CTO issuing process, assists in the development of the treatment plan, accesses community services and facilitates rights advice. The CTO Coordinator provides education to hospitals, community agencies, families, clients and the community regarding CTO.

Outpatient treatment for the early intervention of stable clients, typically provided by a therapist/clinician.

The Outpatient Mental Health Program (OPMH) provides brief therapy and educational programs to clients coping with mental illness. Nurses and social workers work with the individual to set goals for therapy and utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions to help individuals reach their goals. Psychiatric consultation and follow-up is available through this program. A Transitional Care Program is also offered as an extension of this program.

Community Withdrawal Management provides medical withdrawal management support in home or another safe space. Educational events and presentations available for community members, service providers, employers. People who are committed to the medical assisted, withdrawal process from drugs and/or alcohol. Must also have: - A safe and quiet home environment free from substance use - Strong social supports, including commitment of a trusted and reliable individual who can provide support through the withdrawal process - Little to no risk of experiencing a complicated withdrawal (i.e., seizures)

The residential addictions treatment program is delivered in collaboration with the Timmins Native Friendship Centre. Following the RedPath Addiction Treatment program, this is a 28 day admission in a structured, substance-free, in-house environment. Treatment includes counselling/therapy, as well as psycho-social education. In addition to the scheduled program activities, service recipients have 24- hour on-site nursing support in addition to social work support during business hours.

The Crisis Team is available to individuals who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. The Crisis Team provides phone support and can assess individuals presenting to the Timmins and District Hospital's Emergency Department seeking assistance, and can assist with connecting individuals with services that may meet their needs.
