STAT Live-In Treatment

Type of Service

Residential Treatment - Mental Health

Program Description

Short Term Assessment and Treatment Unit (STAT).

The STAT Unit is an intensive live-in program offered through Children’s Centre Thunder Bay. It is specifically for children/youth ages 10 through 18 who are in severe crisis, experiencing emotional dysregulation, extreme behavioural difficulties, and/or are at high risk for self-harm. The six bed, 90 day treatment program provides children/youth with a safe and responsive home-like environment within a residential neighbourhood.

Treatment is provided by a multidisciplinary team from the professions of Child and Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, and Nursing. The purpose of the program is to provide stabilization, assessment and treatment away from the child/youth’s home environment, with the ultimate goal of facilitating a successful transition back home. Active participation from the child/youth’s parent/guardian is essential.

Please note that the STAT Unit Program is now referred to as a live–in treatment program rather than residential treatment program.
