Psychiatric Survivors Network of Elgin (PSNE)

Type of Service

Peer/Self Help

Program Description

Psychiatric Survivors Network of Elgin's (PSNE) vision is to eliminate the public perception of psychiatric survivors as being burdens to society and unemployable. We see a healthier community through mental health awareness and education focused on the elimination of stigma. PSNE is a self-help, non-profit, peer-driven community organization. We encourage independent living, self-help, peer support and ongoing learning by participation in life skills and some job training to promote self-esteem and fulfillment. We encourage individualism while respecting other opinions and privacy, in order to build trust and respect amongst our peers. We do and will act as a liaison with the community to provide our membership with support to achieve their personal goals.
