Program Description

Manse Road Residential Support Services is a high-support supportive housing program operated by Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes. The program operates with a philosophy of psycho-social rehabilitation working with clients to prepare them for more independent living. The program operates with 24-hour on-site staff providing client-centred goal planning, ADL, teaching, crisis intervention and medication monitoring. Both long-stay and respite care are available. One of the ten bedrooms has been set aside for clients of the mental health system who need a short-term supportive environment for up to several weeks. Average length of stay for the residential program is two to three years. Average length of stay for the respite is two to three weeks.

Access Information

Referral for this program is through The Access Point, CAMH, and Ontario Shores. For long-stay, the house accepts both men and women above the age of 16 who are living with a severe and persistent mental illness. Residents require a source of income and willingness to benefit from a high support setting. There is no maximum stay. A current history of violence, criminal activity or substance abuse could exclude the client. To be eligible for respite care the client must be a Toronto resident, suffer from a mental health issue, be willing to participate in the program expectations (chores, cooking, attending meetings) and have a returning address.
