The Distress Centre provides immediate telephone intervention and referral to anyone experiencing crisis from a mental health perspective within the tri-county area of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville. The need could result from a distress or crisis situation, or it could be the result of not knowing where to go to obtain specific services. Caring confidential volunteers are available to listen, be non-judgmental, provide information and referral and assist in helping people to problem-solve. Model of service is based on active listening/crisis response via the utilization of community volunteers who are specifically trained to provide the telephone distress and crisis service.
The Distress Centre is open from 1700-2400 every day.
