Support Within Housing - Mental Health

Program Description

Six-unit apartment building that provides affordable housing and outreach staff support for adults with serious mental illness. Residents must be able to manage own medication, be in good enough physical health to live independently and manage household maintenance. Staff provides practical assistance, one-to-one support and skills teaching to assist residents in their recovery and in developing skills for independent living. Residents have individual apartments. Average length of stay is long-term.

COVID-19 Response: Residential Services Open and continues to provide support to current clients. The program is not accepting new admissions at this time. The homes are at full capacity. New referrals are still being accepted.

Access Information

A written referral is required, as is the client's receipt of other needed ongoing mental health services (e.g., case management, psychiatry, medication). Referrals are reviewed by Program Director/Designate and the intake process generally involves one or more interviews. Rent is geared to income. Key determinants of program eligibility are: sufficient physical health, and supervision and support needs can be accommodated with current staffing levels.
