Program Description

Provides education, consultation and community development to foster self-help, peer support and networking among people with serious mental illness and promote effective communication and coordination amongst system stakeholders. Facilitates psycho-educational support groups and provides staff support for consumer/survivor support groups throughout Grey Bruce. Operates a lending library, offers presentations, workshops and educational resources regarding mental health issues. Provides one-to-one support and consultation to assist consumer/survivors to access needed services and to navigate the mental health system. Please note: this program does not provide clinical services or have a particular client capacity.

Access Information

The program responds to telephone, email and walk-in requests for information about mental health issues and resources. It offers mental health-related educational presentations and sponsors workshops for consumer/survivors. Some presentations are offered throughout Grey and Bruce counties. They are advertised in local newspapers and participants are asked to register for them by calling the program office in Owen Sound. There is no charge for most educational events or for use of the program's resource library. Program services are offered Monday to Friday during core office hours 0830 - 1630 and on evenings and weekends on a variable basis, depending on program resources.
