Community Crisis Beds

Type Of Service

Short-Term Crisis Support Beds

Program Description

The community crisis bed program is a community-based alternative for individuals experiencing mental health crises who do not require inpatient hospitalization, but who would benefit from access to temporary placement in a supportive environment. The crisis bed program provides individuals with an opportunity to initiate steps to resolve their crisis through problem solving, symptom stabilization, and links to community supports.

Access Information

To access crisis beds, individuals are directed to call the crisis line. Crisis staff will assess and determine eligibility. If the criteria are met for admission to the safe beds, transportation will be arranged by the staff. Care providers are asked to complete and fax a referral form along with any other supporting assessments.

It is required that individuals are able to look after their own hygiene and physical needs, and be willing to take medications as prescribed. Individuals cannot be using alcohol and other substances and must be abstinent during their stay.
