Recovery Inpatient Unit - Schizophrenia Recovery Program

Type of Service

Program Description

The Recovery Inpatient Unit is a 24 bed inpatient unit at the Royal Ottawa Place - ROHCG. Our goal is to provide interdisciplinary, recovery-focused treatment within a shorter-term (6 month) residential setting for clients with severe mental illness. This focus will provide treatment; education and opportunities for skill-building for clients in order to achieve success living in the most appropriate community based setting which meets their needs. The Recovery Inpatient Unit supports each patient to determine goals that will enable them to live successfully in as independent setting as possible within the community, utilizing appropriate available community based supports. The Recovery Inpatient Unit will assist each patient to attain those skills necessary to meet their goals, and to transition back to the care and support of their referring team. It is important to note that there are no long-term follow up resources provided by the Recovery Inpatient Unit and for this reason the referring source must be in a position to take the client back into their care at the time of discharge from the program. Referral agencies will also be asked to participate in developing discharge plans and to make referrals to local community resources when appropriate.
