Program Description

Choices for Living Program provides three twelve-week group sessions for women living in the Greater Toronto Area who are struggling with mental health issues. The groups are divided by age categories, 21 to 49 and 50 and over. The 21 to 49 group meets on Wednesdays at Black Creek Community Health Centre, and the 50 and over group meets on Thursdays at Driftwood Community Centre. Intake and Individual Counselling is provided at Beatrice House and is by appointment only. The groups are housed in the North West part of the city of Toronto. Model of service is group work. Women who have graduated from the program have access to a monthly aftercare group as needed.

Access Information

Initial contact for participating in the program is usually made by phone contact. An interview is scheduled for women. The groups are divided by age categories (under 50 and over 50). The groups are free. Intake is ongoing and interested clients may join group after the start date. Women can join the next group session if the group is full or they are late in joining. In addition to group, there is limited individual support available for program participants. Referrals are made from a variety of sources but referrals from an outside source are not necessary in order to join the group.
