Program Description

CMHA Grey Bruce operates two counselling programs that provide mental health counselling for adults with serious and/or acute mental health problems and their families and post-emergency counselling for women survivors of sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse. The programs are located in Hanover and Markdale and each serves as the site of a multi-organization Community Mental Health Team that provides a range of core mental health services for adults with serious mental illness and/or acute problems. Other team services include case management, outreach housing and community support, social recreational rehabilitation and leisure access support. Model of service is generally a brief counselling model. Average length of stay is three to six months.

Access Information

Access to counselling services is via the intake process for the community mental health teams where the counselling is sited. Eligibility for counselling service is generally restricted to: those with a serious mental illness; their family members; people with acute mental health problems and female survivors of sexual abuse.
