Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) Adult team provides crisis intervention services (telephone and outreach) to people with mental health concerns who are in crisis. Mental health and addiction professionals (nurses, social workers and occupational therapists, crisis support workers) triage calls on the crisis line and provide support and develop a plan for intervention. The adult outreach team, consisting of Health regulated professionals paired with a specially trained plain clothed officer respond to crisis situations in the community. Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team (MCRRT): a first response mobile team responding to 911 only calls. This team consists of a mental health regulated professional and a uniformed specially trained officer responding to persons in crisis of all ages in the community. Child and youth team: Provides crisis intervention services (telephone and outreach) to children and youth with mental health concerns who are in crisis. The child and youth professionals provide support and develop a plan for intervention. The outreach can take place at school, home or an environment of the child/youth's choice. All teams provide crisis support, intervention, assessment and assistance developing follow up plans, to clients in the community who are experiencing crisis. Follow up may include brief monitoring/support, referral to appropriate community organizations/support networks or collaboration with existing supportive organizations. Prevention of ongoing future crisis is a goal of the program. Model of service is mental health outreach and crisis intervention. Average length of stay is 24 hours and may be repeated as necessary.
Central Intake takes referrals from clients, families, health care or social program service providers, police, as well as community members at large. Clients are provided with telephone and/or outreach/mobile assessment and support. Program operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Outreach assessment usually within 24 hours. MCRRT operates 8 am to 1 am 7 days per week and assessment is immediate. No cost, no Health Insurance Number required. No age or diagnostic criteria required to access the program.
