Program Description

The Paediatric Eating Disorders Program provides service to children and adolescents up to the age of 17 who require intensive medical stabilization and eating rehabilitation for children and youth experiencing an eating disorder (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge-Eating Disorder). Services include medical management, and individual, family, group and nutritional counselling. Staff includes psychologists, paediatricians, psychiatrist, social workers, nurse practitioner, Child Life Specialist, registered dietician, and registered nurses, and child and youth worker.

Access Information

Referrals are through the eating disorders program and are triaged according to medical acuity. Clients who reside outside of LHIN 4 must have received service for their eating disorder in their own community first, before being accepted into this program. Physicians may need to stabilize the patient in community hospital prior to admission. There may be a waiting period to be assessed. Physician referral required. Please request an intake form from the program. Telephone consultation available to physicians and other community service providers. Patients within the catchment area may be accommodated on the paediatric ward. OTN is used on a limited basis.
