Family Healing Program

Type of Service

Counselling and Treatment

Program Description

Our service will provide families with healthy coping and stabilization techniques, psycho‐education and a therapeutic environment that will allow the family to process unresolved trauma issues. The 15 day program foundation will be rooted in Anishinaabe culture, ceremony and land based teachings.
The program is designed to provide support to families prior to treatment, in the treatment orientation phase, treatment phase and after‐care phase. This 3 phase approach will allow the program staff to provide on‐going support to families and front line community care service providers for a period of 6 months.
Program participants are expected to actively participate in all elements of the program.
To ensure that the families receive optimal support, the Family Healing Program will require community referral sources to accompany families at admission, attend mid‐treatment case conference and graduation ceremony at the time of discharge.

Access Information

Referral Sources will complete a Brief Referral for Eligibility Screening and submit it to the WFS – FHP Intake Coordinator. If the referral is eligible for services, a pre‐treatment orientation will be set up for a tour and to answer questions.

The Referral Source and client/s will then be required to submit the complete Referral Package and required supporting documentation. Once the complete package is received, the treatment planning will begin and the Intake Coordinator will set an intake date for the family. Prior to intake a meeting will take place to answer any further questions or address concerns; review and complete the treatment plan and consents and agreements will be completed and signed. This meeting will involve the Intake Coordinator, Family, and Community Worker/Referral Source.
