Mental Health Emergency Services Unit

Type of Service

Crisis Intervention

Program Description

The Mental Health Emergency Services Unit (MHESU) mandate is to provide specialized assessment, symptom stabilization, and appropriate disposition of individuals with a primary mental health and/or substance use disorder. It does this by providing tailored interventions in a low-stimulus, supportive environment. If and when clinically indicated, patients can be held for a short period of time to allow for symptom clearance, which facilitates well-informed decisions regarding disposition. This is an 8-bed unit.
