Program Description

Biopsychosocial approach. Must attend motivational group sessions prior to attending this short-term program. This is a structured residential treatment program. Components include therapy, workshops, physical activities, relaxation sessions, etc. For the first seven days, clients remain in the residence. For the following weekends, clients are allowed to leave. Residents may have to give a random breathalyzer test or urine sample along with a smokerlyzer test to detect whether clients have been smoking. Motivational group is available prior to start of program, if necessary.

Access Information

Residents from the Ottawa area are to contact Service Access to Recovery (SAR), formerly the Ottawa Addictions Access and Referral Services (OAARS) first. An in-house questionnaire and self-evaluation to be completed by the end of this program allowing the client to specify his needs and eventually to join the long term program. Clients are referred through the assessment program. They might benefit from the stabilization program, but it is not required. A motivational group allows the clinician to verify if the client can perform (or benefit) in a group situation. Clients must be abstinent for five days prior to program start.
