Program Description

Evergreen is a Regional Geriatric Psychiatry Unit.

This unit provides comprehensive, specialized assessment and treatment of older adults with complex, age related, psychiatric needs. These needs may be complicated by behavioural and psychological symptoms and/or comorbidities.

Examples include:
- late-life mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, mania
- late-life psychotic disorders (delusional disorder, schizophrenia)
- psychiatric disorders
- behavioural symptoms associated with complex medical co-morbidities and functional impairment (Parkinson's disease).

Access Information

All referrals are processed through Central Referral. Regional Mental Health Referral form is specific for the Regional Inpatient programs. This can be downloaded from the hospital website.

Referrals require a recent psychiatric assessment which includes preliminary diagnosis and suggested treatment/interventions prior to referral and must be medically stable (however this doesn't preclude admission of patient with potential delirium).
