Diversion and Court Support

Program Description

Diversion and Court Support Services provides opportunity for individuals with a mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, in conflict with the law, with a minor offence as a result of their illness, to have their case diverted from the criminal justice system at the discretion of the Provincial Crown Attorney and to reduce their chances of re-offending by: diversion, consultation and education, coordination of psychiatric assessments, short term case management support. Model of service is referral, diversion and linkage to other programs, transitional case management.
