Crisis Intervention

Program Description

We provide bilingual crisis support, short-term counselling, information and referral services and advocacy for individuals and families. Services may be provided by telephone, in person and by appointment or drop-in. General counselling service provided. Counsellor has training and work experience in all the specific population groups. Some clients come frequently for support (crisis counselling, bus tickets, food, baby cupboard, referrals, assistance with forms and advocacy). Model of service is short-term crisis counselling, client-centered approach, problem solving and life skills-based. There is no limit of visits per client, measured on an as needed basis.

Access Information

Priority is given to clients from the catchment area of the Carlington Community and Health Services. Clients who live in another catchment area will be served as needed and referred to a community health centre in their neighbourhood. Appointments are booked by intake worker. No wait list for crisis intervention.
