Program Description

Mental Health Court Diversion Program of Haliburton, Kawartha and Pine Ridge is a service for those with a mental health diagnosis or mental health concerns who are 16 years of age or older and have been charged with a minor offence. The program is voluntary but the diversion option must be approved by the Crown attorney. Court diversion staff provides linkage with clients for short term and longer services to client/family and others. The staff also provides consultation, assessment and advice to the courts. Once approved for the court diversion program the staff provide clinical and support based services to the client/family and keep the court informed of progress. Consultation and referral services are provided to persons who were informed of progress. Consultation and referral services are provided to persons who were assessed by court diversion staff but were not eligible for the court diversion program. Model of service is court support and clinical case management.

Access Information

Referrals are accepted from any source, including self-referrals. Should individuals experience a crisis and require urgent support outside of the regular office hours, they should go to the nearest hospital Emergency Department or call Four County Crisis Response Program at 1-866-995-9933 or 705-745-6484. All referrals are reviewed by the court diversion staff and priority is given to the most serious and critical referrals. Referral forms are available from the centre.
