Program Description

The mandate of the program is to assist Indigenous adults with a serious mental illness and/or substance abuse issue to live successfully in the community through the provision of mental health services, which are geared to individual need. Ooshke Bemahdesewin provides goal oriented culturally competent rehabilitation services.

Access Information

This program is part of a centralized screening and intake process. Referrals can come from anywhere within the city of Thunder Bay, including families, clients, psychiatrists, etc. To qualify for the program, the client must agree to be an active participant in the recovery/ rehabilitation process. The candidate must have a primary diagnosis of a serious mental illness.
