Type of Service

Diversion and Court Support

Program Description

Mental Health & Justice Services offers intensive individual assistance and advocacy around accessing community resources and services to individuals experiencing mental health concerns, who are in conflict with the law. When possible, clients are diverted away from the courts and into community services. Mental Health & Justice Services incorporates the following services: court diversion - connecting clients with community service providers to address their mental health concerns, instead of going through the court process; release from custody planning - helping clients transition back into their home communities after being released from custody in Maplehurst Correctional Complex, Ontario Correctional Institute, or Vanier Centre for Women; housing in partnership with Supportive Housing in Peel (SHIP) - providing clients with apartments and long-term support around life skills, personal growth, and recovery; mental health support for individuals and their families, including access to group programs such as peer support, fitness promotion, social recreation, and family support.
