Family Initiatives

Program Description

A volunteer group of people that have experience caring for a person with a mental illess who provide information, education and support to other family members. The volunteers are supported by staff from Mental Health Services Hastings Prince Edward. The NAMI Family to Family program and service provider courses are offered two to three times per year. An annual education conference is offered. The anti-stigma program Talking About Mental illness (TAMI) can be presented in high schools. Educational resources (books and tapes) are purchased for local public schools and libraries. Model of service is family education.
