Program Description

The Leisure and Life Skills Program at CMHA Middlesex Branch - Strathroy site provides recreation, social and leadership opportunities for people living with a mental illness in the community, with a goal to maximize opportunities for social rehabilitation to isolated persons. There are exercises and craft classes, and opportunities to participate in special events such as bowling, live theatre and group excursions. The program runs five days a week, and includes life skills activities such as meal planning, preparation and budgeting. Guest speakers enhance skills and develop linkages with other service providers. Assessment, advocacy, consultation and evaluation are among the social rehabilitation directed services. Model of service is psychosocial rehabilitation.

Persons contacting CMHA Middlesex Branch - Strathroy site may be directed to intake for further assessment, or to take another community organization or program. When an individual meets with our intake worker, they receive information about CMHA Middlesex Branch - Strathroy site and other community organizations, and an intake assessment is completed. The individual can be referred to another more appropriate service, or become a member in one of our programs at CMHA Middlesex Branch - Strathroy site.
