Program Description

Serves individuals, 25 years of age and older, who have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and are experiencing difficulties managing their symptoms. The goals of this therapy are to reduce symptomatology: maladaptive behaviours, and current psychological distress associated with BPD, decreasing frequency of admissions to in-patient units and ER visits, decreasing length of stay in in-patient services, increasing coping skills, and improving quality of life for individuals who have been diagnosed with having Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Services offered:
The clinic offers clients Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through a 28 week comprehensive program, or a 28 week DBT Skills Training Program. After completion of the comprehensive program at Ontario Shores, an 8 week aftercare program may be offered based on additional criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

- Diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder, with or without Co-occurring Anxiety Disorders, Major Depressive Disorder, Eating Disorders, or Addictions.
- All treatment options for BPD available in the client’s community have been unable to assist the patient reach recovery
- Ability to read and write at a grade 8 level

Access Information

Referrals are accepted from health professionals, service to service, family physicians/Nurse Practitioners, Specialists, Community Agencies.

Applicants will participate in an initial phone screening and if determined the program would be appropriate, individuals will be invited to one of the clinics to complete the assessment process.

Any re-referrals to the program must wait 6 months from the date of discharge to be referred again.
