Program Description

Steps to Health is a wellness/lifestyle change program that is designed for adults living with a mental health issue. The program is for persons interested in improving their physical health, becoming more active, and preventing health problems: getting more exercise; learning more about food and nutrition; changing eating habits; having fun and socializing with others around new activities. The program consists of walking, nutrition, cooking modules as well as opportunities for gym membership, yoga or dance fit, and adventure/sports activities. A Breathe Easier group assists people to reduce their tobacco use. Program is based on cognitive behavioural principles; education, motivation and behavioural change, and includes Nicotine Replacement Therapy. A weight management group, Weigh To Go, is also available.

Access Information

Persons must be willing to provide basic health information and have an intake/screening interview. The program communicates with the participant's health care provider to ensure that the person's medical risks and health issues are shared appropriately and that any medical follow up can be arranged.
