Early Intervention

Type of Service

Early Intervention

Program Description

This program is available to anyone in Elgin County who has been showing signs of psychosis (hallucinations, delusions or disorganization of thinking) and has not been treated for longer than one month. Early recognition is a key factor so that individuals receive prompt assessment and treatment. Young people (men ages 16-25 and women ages 16-35) are at particularly high risk. Treatment planning is based on a thorough assessment of the biological and psychosocial aspects of the individual's presentation and whenever possible is provided without admission to hospital. The program is committed to working in partnership with clients and their families.
